La Trobe University's Bendigo campus is enjoying the benefits of reduced costs of lighting in the frequently used Residential area, without sacrificing light loss thanks to an upgrade to electronic T5 lighting courtesy of Save It Easy^® and campus Facility Management staff.

          David Holmes, Facility Manager at the Bendigo campus saw an opportunity to save energy, improve lighting consistency and simultaneously reduce costs whilst upgrading his existing lighting at a fraction of the cost replacement fittings and lamps would normally be.

Encouraged by ecoBright^®'s 25% minimum savings guarantee, the 2 year warranty and the number of existing customers already working with ecoBright and Ilum-A-Lite throughout Australia on Save It Easy^® projects, David explains “...when we first looked at Save-it-Easy^® we knew that electronic T5 lamps were going to give us a better quality light especially after they were installed in our T8 fittings..."

David was interested in the theoretical savings we predicted that could be achieved with a 20% delamping level. Once La Trobe facility staff purchased their own Save It Easy^® T5 adaptor kits they began to trial different levels of delamping to observe the effects for themselves.

Residents were also quite supportive of the facility staff's energy saving initiatives, by providing feedback on their perceptions of the changes in lighting quality. David continued to say "...to our surprise, not only were we able to save significant energy, but we were also able to delamp in some areas by up to 75% whilst maintaining adequate lighting levels."

Following a review of energy costs and stakeholder feedback, David contacted ecoBright and explained "...when we reviewed the results upgrading to T5 lighting is simply a no brainer. What ecoBright allowed us to do was to achieve this transition from T8 lamps to T5 lamps in a cost effective way".
