Village Green uses ecoBright's Save It Easy^® to brighten Head Office...and save!

Beginning the Village Green lighting upgrade using ecoBright's T5 adaptor Save It Easy®. Here the T5 lamps are 'primed' with the T5 adaptor and awaiting installation.

When Village Green decided to move to their new Head Office address in Richmond, CEO and Managing Director Doug Smith was keen to upgrade the lighting. "We're a sustainability company and the irony is - we've never really thought about lighting as a principal source of energy savings".

"We have recommended ecoBright's unique T5 adaptor solution in the past and customers have been delighted with the outcome". "It makes sense we should follow the same advice and 'practise what we preach'...doesn't it", Doug continued.

"Joe and Terry were kind enough to offer to give us a hand installing the upgrade on the Sunday we moved in...how could I pass up the offer...!!"

Whilst the office was clean and an exciting new location for the Village Green organisation, there were quite a few electromagnetically ballasted single 36W linear fluorescent lamp fittings throughout the floor - which presented an opportunity to achieve even greater savings through strategic delamping.

"We were keen to extract as much of the savings potential we could - so we decided to strategically delamp throughout the floor..." Doug added. "It was possible to remove up to 30% (i.e. 3 out of every 10 lamps) of the existing lamps and due to the number of fittings, still get above the Australian standard values for office lighting." "The delamping was easy to do and our savings showed an increase as a result".

Two different types of lamp fitings available at Village Green's Head Office in Richmond. The top picture is the ceiling fitting - a single lamp open fitting that was very easy to upgrade. Below that, a picture of a caged single lamped fitting installed on some of the office walls - whilst the cage presented some challenges all fittings were successfully upgraded within an afternoon's work.

The fittings at this location were mature yet serviceable and it is important to remember that ecoBright's T5 adaptor solution is only as good as the serviceability of the existing fittings. That is, T5 upgrades do not repair unserviceable fittings.

The installation progressed without a hitch and in an afternoon old 120 technology light fittings were easily upgraded to use highly efficient, new technology T5 lamps without the mess and expense of having to replace the entire fitting and hiring a qualified electrician to install them.

"We recycled the old lamps and the boys helped us complete the job quickly, without fuss and without the need to hire qualified tradesmen who would have charged a premium for working on Sunday...".
